Sageon® Vigil Battery Monitor & Sageon® Vigil Cell Monitoring Expansion
The Sageon® Vigil is a microprocessor based, single rack space float current battery monitor for telecommunications applications.

The Sageon® Vigil was designed to be a compact and easy way to monitor the status of your batteries. It was designed to be used in conjunction with the C&D Technologies Float Charging Current Probes (FCCP) to monitor the float current of your batteries.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Sageon® Vigil can be used to monitor:
  • Battery Voltage
  • Up to 10 Battery float currents (used in conjunction with the FCCP current probe)
  • Temperature: Ambient and two battery strings
When used with the Sageon® Vigil Cell Monitoring Expansion, the Sageon® Vigil can additionally monitor:
  • 2 strings of 24 battery cells (2V nominal cell)
  • 4 additional temperatures
  • 4 “standard” current transducers for charge/discharge monitoring
The Sageon® Vigil has the following alarm and control output relays related to battery monitoring (all relay contacts rated 60W / 62.5VA):
  • Dual Form C contacts for Major and Minor alarms
  • Single Form C contacts for the following alarms:
    • High voltage (HVA)
    • Very Low Voltage (VLVA)
    • Low Voltage (LVA)
    • Fuse alarm (FA)
    • High/low current Watchdog alarm (CUR/WD)
    • Temperature alarm (TEMP)
    • Auxiliary relay (AUX) (user defined)
  • Single Form A contacts for the following control functions:
    • High voltage shutdown (HVSD)
  • Front panel LED’s that visually indicate alarm & control status
  • Built-in audible alarm

General Plant Performance Specifications
  The Sageon® Vigil was designed to operate in accordance with the monitor and control specifications portion of TR-EOP-000154, for +24 and -48 Vdc Power Plants.
Safety Specifications
  Underwriters Laboratory Standards of Safety for Information Technology Equipment (UL 1950) and the Bellcore Network Equipment-Building System Generic Equipment Requirements (TR EOP 000063) were adhered to in all component and wire selection. Particular attention was paid to safety ratings and OI-28 flammability requirements.

Sageon® Shield Standalone Battery Monitor
The Sageon® Shield is a complete solution for monitoring the status of a 48V battery string.

The Sageon® Shield will monitor individual cell voltage, ambient and pilot cell temperature and battery string charge/discharge current (optional).
Using C&D’s SageView® software the user can obtain a snapshot view of the present state of the batteries remotely via the integral Web/SNMP interface card or locally at the unit via the front panel USB connection.
Alarming is provided via 5 user configurable relays that can be triggered on a variety of battery conditions; by default these relays will “trip” on high battery cell voltage, low battery cell voltage, high cell voltage deviation, low cell voltage deviation and high ambient or battery temperature.

The Sageon® Shield comes with qty. 1 ambient temperature sensor and 1 battery temperature sensor. Also included is a cell wiring harness, and inline protection devices for power and sense wiring.
